Erma Jane (Janie) Dickerson passed away February 25, 2010 from complications of Alzheimer's disease.

A loving wife and best friend, she will be sadly missed by her husband Raymond of 67 years, and other family members, Judy Wade (daughter ), Jay Dickerson (son), Michael Dickerson (son), Beth Geldert (daughter), Barbara McElroy (daughter). She was born in Cherokee, Oklahoma on 6 August, 1920 and raised in Kansas.

Janie was married to Raymond Dale Dickerson on 5 Dec. 1942, in Hutchinson, KS. Janie was an Air Force wife of 20 years and was a factor in her husband's successful career. Janie lived in various areas of the United States and in Japan following her husband when he was in the military. She was a lovely wife and mother with a sense of humor, a friendly smile, and a positive outlook on life.

She is survived by her spouse Raymond Dale Dickerson of Laguna Niguel, Ca. ; Judy Wade, Norman, OK.; Jay and Betty Dickerson, Sunrise Beach, MO.; Michael and Chrissy Dickerson, St. Petersburg, FL.; Beth Geldert, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA.; Barbara and Steve McElroy, Palmdale, CA.; 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and Darrell (brother) and Donna Ford, Surprise, AZ.

Memorial service to be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Dilday Brothers Funeral Home in Huntington Beach, CA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimers Association.

The passing of your mother has touched me deeply. As a member of your family for 30 years, I considered 'Mom" to be like a second mother to me. She was the kind of mother-in-law that every daughter-in-law dreams of having when she marries...always supportive, never intrusive, and forever loving. I have missed her these many years, but she will forever hold a special place in my heart. You are all always in my thoughts. I offer the family my sincere sympathy and love. Judy

I have so many happy memories of "mom" over the years...family reunions, visits to our home, touring Germany and Switzerland together, great family meals, shopping. The list goes on and on. There will always be one that stands out and that is on the first visit to the family home in Lancaster, CA in the summer of 1975. When I was about to enter the family as a new wife, I wanted to make sure that I met my future mother-in-law before making that decision...having had a previous, not so nice, experience. Even though, I was a complete stranger who was about to marry her son, 'Mom" never once made me feel like an outsider who would not be accepted. A favorite memory . . . when I moved away from home and started a family of my own I loved coming home to visit Mom and Dad. It always smelled so wonderful when we walked into the house. Mom would be busy in the kitchen making one of her amazing meals. The food was great, but even better was how Mom could make anyone feel right at home, kick off your shoes, sit and share stories and enjoy each others company. No frills, just good times. I miss those moments, but cherish the memories.

My most favorite memories of Mom were at home during the Christmas holidays. Even after I had moved out it was very important that I come home for Christmas. I can remember a few that I didn't make and it always made me sad to think that I wouldn't see her Christmas morning making something special for breakfast. Keep watch over us Mom...I love you.
