This is Marge Ford, I live in Lincoln, NE and I'm a sister in law of Janie. Her middle brother, Dean and I were married 33 years when Dean passed away January 2004. We lived at Burrton, KS and Janie and Dale would stay at our home when they would drive back to KS for the Dickerson reunion every few years. Their stay at our home was always great and a joy to have them.

To Dale and family, I would like to express my profound sympathy of Janie's passing-of course she will be missed, but God is awesome and gave us the ability to have memories to treasure always. To me she left memories of a true "lady" and my one favorite expression of her was "she is a peach of a gal". To know her is to love her!
My apology for not being able to attend the Memorial Service. I am 85 years now and physically unable to travel. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. May God bless each of you abundantly.
My love and prayers to you all.
Posted by: Marge Ford - Lincoln, NE - Sister-in-law Mar 06, 2010Jane and Dale were the most hospitable people we have know. Nothing seemed to rile them and Jane was so gracious. We met them over 20 years ago and commented how Jane was the consummate mother who welcomed everyone to her home. We loved being with them for golf and holidays and we all miss Jane. Condolences and prayers to Dale and all of their children and wonderful family members. Love Dale, Rita and Christopher Geldert
Posted by: Dale and Rita Geldert - Oceanside, CA - In-laws to Beth Mar 05, 2010I probably hadn't seen her since I was about 5 years old. Her picture reminds me of Grandma Ford. Your memories of her remind me of how Grandma Ford always welcomed me into her apartment when I would visit when I was home on leave. Fond memories are wonderful. Bob

I have so many happy memories of "mom" over the years...family reunions, visits to our home, touring Germany and Switzerland together, great family meals, shopping. The list goes on and on. There will always be one that stands out and that is on the first visit to the family home in Lancaster, CA in the summer of 1975. When I was about to enter the family as a new wife, I wanted to make sure that I met my future mother-in-law before making that decision...having had a previous, not so nice, experience. Even though, I was a complete stranger who was about to marry her son, 'Mom" never once made me feel like an outsider who would not be accepted. She was warm, hospitable, and truly interested in getting to know me. I admired the respect and love she gave to her husband and her family and the way she received it in return. I remember saying to myself, "This is a family I want to be a part of." In all the years we had together she stayed true to herself and others. She will always be a special memory in my life's journey. I love you, "Mom."

A favorite memory . . . when I moved away from home and started a family of my own I loved coming home to visit Mom and Dad. It always smelled so wonderful when we walked into the house. Mom would be busy in the kitchen making one of her amazing meals. The food was great, but even better was how Mom could make anyone feel right at home, kick off your shoes, sit and share stories and enjoy each others company. No frills, just good times. I miss those moments, but cherish the memories.

My most favorite memories of Mom were at home during the Christmas holidays. Even after I had moved out it was very important that I come home for Christmas. I can remember a few that I didn't make and it always made me sad to think that I wouldn't see her Christmas morning making something special for breakfast. Keep watch over us Mom...I love you.
